Marcel Alcala

Marcel is an artist whose work vivaciously speaks truth through performance, sculpture, painting, drawing, and visual styling to personal and shared identities. Marcel is known for their signature happy and sad face iconography, which humorously and poignantly brings clarity to what might otherwise be confounding paradigms in pop culture and politics. Their work embodies payasa – the clown – and creates collaborative spaces for others to do the same. Marcel graduated from SAIC in Chicago and has exhibited at the Swiss Institute, Deli Gallery. Rogalund Kunst Center, MCA Chicago, SADE Gallery, Night Gallery, and MoCA in Los Angeles.

Mireya Lucio

“I am an interdisciplinary artist, writer, performer, educator, and witch.
I was born & raised in Puerto Rico, then I lived in New York, and now I live in Los Angeles.

I practice art and magic, I cannot separate one from the other.
Performance is ritual and ritual is performance.
Arrangements of words and objects are spells.
Meaning making and disrupting are spells.
I believe in art and magic as tools for healing, preservation, revolution, connection, and liberation.”
